HEAD OFFICE
Each of our head office departments are set up to offer excellent service to all of our stores, whether it be through buying the right titles for our store or ensuring we all get paid on time. Head Office departments include:
Finance: including Accounts Assistants, Reconcilers, Accountants and Auditors.
Human Resources and Training: including Regional HR Managers, Training and Development Officers and HR Co-ordinators.
Information Technology: including Network Managers and Support Technicians.
Loss Prevention and Health & Safety: Including Regional LP Managers.
Marketing and Merchandising: including Buyers, Merchandising Assistants, Marketing Co-ordinators, Category Managers and Promotions Executives.
Payroll: including Payroll Administrators.

Cashiers
Our friendly and energetic Cashiers provide excellent service by assisting customers with purchases and answering their questions. Cashiers must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and must be comfortable working on computers and cash registers.
Books and Music Sellers
Our sellers drive store sales through their excellent service and enthusiastic selling. They are the primary resource for customer questions and phone calls. Their responsibilities include looking after a number of book or music sections within the store ensuring they are both well presented and fully stocked. This position requires individuals who have excellent customer service skills and possess a love of books, music, movies or a combination of all three.
Supervisors
Our Supervisors lead and foster our team-oriented environment while supervising the sales floor and an operational area of the store. They act as mentors for the staff and support management and head office plans. Our Supervisors are flexible, committed to staff development, and able to work varied hours. This position requires strong supervisory, communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Managers
Reporting to the General Manager our Managers are accountable for the day-to-day operations of the store, the performance of the supervisors and staff members, and achieving company goals. This position requires individuals who have 1-2 years management experience, preferably gained in a retail environment. Flexibility, strong communication and problem solving skills are essential in this dynamic leadership and team-building role.
General Managers
Our General Managers must have the ability to motivate, instil accountability, and achieve results. They are responsible for all aspects of store operations, fulfilment of company goals, and Profit & Loss. They cultivate a team environment that encourages exceptional customer service, direct their management team, and ensure all their staff members perform at a consistently high level. Strong communication, organisational, and problem solving skills are essential, and 2-3 years experience managing a large retail operation is strongly preferred.
BOOKS ETC. STORES

Bookseller
Our Booksellers drive store sales by providing personalised, attentive customer service. They use strong selling skills and extensive product knowledge to provide appropriate products, services, and information to our customers. Our successful Booksellers possess excellent customer service skills, interpersonal effectiveness, and enthusiasm.
Supervisor
Our Supervisors support the management team and staff by supervising the sales floor and a designated area of the store. They are responsible for maximising store profitability, developing and executing strategies to achieve sales, customer service, and operational goals. Management experience in a retail environment, accomplishment with reaching sales goals, staff development, and proven communication skills are essential for this role.
DISTRIBUTION CENTRE
Our distribution centres ensure the right merchandise is at the right place at the right time. They are responsible for the shipping/receiving, warehousing, transportation, and flow of product within the Borders supply chain. Whether applying for a General Warehouse Operative or Supervisor position, we're seeking a passion for efficiency, optimal customer service standards, a high level of accuracy, and the drive to maintain a safe work environment. We have two distribution centres based in Cornwall one in St Columb Major the other in Penryn.

Warehouse Operative
Our Warehouse Operatives are responsible for accurately unpacking, processing and re-packing of all our products, including books, music and video. This position requires individuals who are methodical, organised and have good attention to detail.
Lead
Leads work alongside our Supervisors and take responsibility for the on-going training of warehouse operatives. They also assist in the organisation and allocation of staff to ensure that all tasks are carried out effectively. This position therefore requires individuals who are organised and possess good communication skills.
Supervisor
Our Supervisors lead and foster our team oriented environment whilst ensuring that all daily orders are shipped on time. They motivate, assist and train staff with their tasks, as well as being flexible and committed to staff development. This position requires strong supervisory, communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Operations Manager
Our Operations Managers are responsible for controlling the day-to-day logistics, warehouse and distribution operation to ensure that all stores receive an effective and efficient service within pre-agreed service levels. They establish strong working relationships with internal and external customers, as well as actively seeking feedback and driving forward improvement initiatives. Strong communication, organisational, and problem solving skills are essential for this role, as is previous management experience.
