Crime Awards to be televised

An awards show dedicated to crime fiction will be televised for the first time in June.

The event will be hosted by Cactus Television on ITV3 and is taking place at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.

The channel has announced that the awards show will be preceded by six weeks of documentaries which examines the life and success of well renowned crime writers such as Ruth Rendell, Val McDermid and Lynda La Plante.

At the event awards will be presented for novels considered to be the best British and international crime novel. The show culminates in a prize for the best crime author which is voted on by viewers of ITV3.

Emma Tennant, Controller of ITV3 and CITV, said: "The awards ceremony promises to be a fantastic, star-studded evening celebrating the very best crime thrillers from across the world."

Viewers will also be able to vote for their favourite crime programme and help decided the recipient
of the ITV3 Award for Classic TV Drama.
