Borders will be the first UK retailer to sell an e-book reader this weekend.
The device, called the iLiad, is approximately the size of A5 paper and will come with 50 novels already integrated into it including Sense and Sensibility and Hamlet.
Words appear on the device's screen as they would in a book and Borders are optimistic the reader will appeal to book lovers.
Neil Fitton, head of marketing for Borders UK, said: "We are adding an exciting new device that gives those who are passionate about reading another way to indulge that passion."
In addition to reading from the screen users can read PDF documents and write handwritten notes with the device which has a stylus included.
Shoppers can buy the e-book reader from seven of Borders stores located in Glasgow, Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton, Cheshire Oaks and London's Oxford Street and Islington branches.
The iLiad retails for £399 and goes on sale this Saturday.
