Amis book adapted for film

Amis book adapted for film
9.5.2008

A novel written by Martin Amis is to be adapted for film 19 years after it was published.

Amis is currently working on the screenplay for London Fields with Roberta Hanley, who co-produced American Psycho, The Virgin Suicides and Buffalo 66.

Director of Hallam Foe and Young Adam, David Mackenzie, will also come on board.

London Fields drew controversy when it was published in 1989 and it consequently missed out on a Booker prize nomination of that year. Two judges sitting on the panel rejected the story claiming it was misogynist at times.

The story features Nicola Six experiencing a premonition of her death and her attempts to find out who is responsible for her demise.

Amis is an acclaimed writer who won the Somerset Maugham Award for his first published novel The Rachel Papers. Additionally he was nominated for the Booker prize in 1991 for his novel Times Arrow.
