Two poets became joint winners of a poetry publishing award last week.

The Callum Macdonald Memorial Award was presented to Hazel Cameron and Duncan Glen last week at a ceremony held at the National Library of Scotland.

Prizes of £750 and the Callum Macdonald Memorial Quaich were shared between the joint winners.

Ms Cameron earned her prize due to her poetry entitled The Currying Shop - and Mr Glen's winning contribution was called Edinburgh Poems.

Judges said competition was tough and applicants sent in poetry of a high standard, particularly the winning entrants.

"The poetry in both is of a high quality. One evokes ever-poetic Edinburgh but with subversive humour.
"The Currying Shop, meanwhile, explores a different, more rural yet industrially historical part of Scotland," said the judging panel.

Up to 47 poets from across the UK applied for the award which is in its 8th year and recognizes efforts in poetry pamphlet publishing.
