Ramsay takes top book spot

Ramsay takes top book spot
15.5.2008

A book by Gordon Ramsay has taken the top spot in the bestseller list and knocked a fellow celebrity chef into second place.

How To Cheat At Cooking, by Delia Smith, had a three month reign at the number one position in the Booksellers list but has been dislodged by Mr Ramsay's latest book.

Healthy Appetite, by Mr Ramsay, contains approximately 100 recipes which are concentrated on creating tasty dishes that are not calorie loaded.

The book provides guidance on making all daytime meals and contains ideas for barbecues and kids parties.

Healthy dishes include ingredients such as wild mushroom risotto with courgettes and griddle squid with roasted peppers and cannellini beans.

Mr Ramsay recently gave his support for using fresh seasonal produce when cooking and slammed Ms Smith's latest book for including the use of tinned ingredients.

"I expect students struggling on £15 a week to survive eating from a can. But the nation's all-time icon reducing us down to using frozen, canned food. It’s an insult," said Mr Ramsay.

Ms Smith's first cookery book was published in 1971 and was also entitled How To Cheat At Cooking.
