Up to 20 authors will be attending this year's Dundee Literary Festival next month.

The festival has proved so popular that organisers have doubled it to four days in order to include all the events and speakers that have been lined up.

Co-sponsored by Borders the packed programme includes internationally acclaimed authors such as Ian Rankin, William Boyd and James Kelman.

Borders will be the first UK retailer to sell an e-book reader this weekend.

The device, called the iLiad, is approximately the size of A5 paper and will come with 50 novels already integrated into it including Sense and Sensibility and Hamlet.

Words appear on the device's screen as they would in a book and Borders are optimistic the reader will appeal to book lovers.

An award winning crime writer is to appear at a series of venues in May to talk to fans.

John Connolly will attend events on May 15th at Borders in Oxford Street, London and on May 23rd at Scarborough library.

The talks have been arranged to coincide with the 2008 National Year of Reading and the release of Connolly's new book the Reaper which is out next month.

Borders has announced a 25 per cent promotional discount on all Bibles as England fans are on their knees praying Steve McClaren's men qualify for next summer's Euro 2008 Finals.

It is hoped the discounts will encourage fans to purchase the holy books and use them to pray for the team so they achieve victory.

Customers have already been telling staff that they are buying the books as a 'good luck charm' to hold throughout the game.

Borders has formed a new partnership with Tangent Labs, specialists in digital personalised communications, to enable its 70 stores across the UK and Ireland to manage their own websites.

The Tangent Labs system allows store managers to communicate more effectively with their local customers which will encourage store loyalty by providing a more personalised, interactive customer experience.

Each store manager will be able to upload information about special events, in-store offers and book signings, to keep local shoppers and book enthusiasts up to date on latest offers and promotions.
