Borders gives Bible discounts to hopeful England fans

Borders has announced a 25 per cent promotional discount on all Bibles as England fans are on their knees praying Steve McClaren's men qualify for next summer's Euro 2008 Finals.

It is hoped the discounts will encourage fans to purchase the holy books and use them to pray for the team so they achieve victory.

Customers have already been telling staff that they are buying the books as a 'good luck charm' to hold throughout the game.

Several stores across the country have even had to make way for the Bible in their sporting sections due to the demand from supporters.

Dom Kippin, spokesperson for Borders, said: "We'd like to rally support for the national side and we know that fans would do anything to see the team in the Euro finals.

"We hope that our discount makes it a little easier for fans to back their boys".

After Israel's surprise 2-1 win over Russia, England have shrunk to 1-12 with Ladbrokes to qualify and now need only a home draw against Croatia on Wednesday.
