Fraggles to star in film

Fraggles to star in film
14.5.2008

A film is set to be produced starring favourite children's puppets the Fraggles.

Harvey Weinsten who produced the second film of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, has reportedly provided the funding to bring the eccentric characters to the silver screen.

Old favourites are expected to return including, Wembley, Mokey, Red, Gogo and Boober.

Fraggle Rock was first shown in 1987 and was aired in more than ten countries including the UK, Canada, US and New Zealand.

The show featured a host of puppets with widely differing characteristics who lived underground with a race called the Doozers.

In the UK the creatures were shown to live beneath an island that was in reality located near a lighthouse in the West Country.

The film version is scheduled for release in 2009 and is reported to follow the Fraggles' adventures as they emerge from their underground home and encounter humans who they believe are aliens.
