Pritchard hits out at Pigeon Detectives

Pritchard hits out at Pigeon Detectives
18.7.2008

Luke Pritchard, the lead singer of The Kooks, has hit out at The Pigeon Detectives, claiming that bands like them have "diluted" the indie music scene.

The Kooks first came to prominence in 2005 after the release of their debut album Inside In/Inside Out.

Pritchard commented that the independent music scene in Britain was very exciting at the time but he feels that it has gone downhill since.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: "When we first came out it was a cool time, with the Kaisers, Arctics and Bloc Party on the same circuit. I don't think many people would place us with those acts, but at the time I really felt part of that whole movement.

"It's funny what's followed. Bands like The Pigeon Detectives took what was there and slightly diluted it."

The Kooks are set to start a tour of the US to promote their second album, Konk, the second single from which, Shine On, is released later this month.
